ADA is in serious danger of being an underrated classic. Every track is such a gem; when was the last time Rahman gave us 8 distinct tracks in a single album - each with a distinctive feel, and rapturous in its own way! And Tu Mera Hai is just addictive from the word go. I wanted to know the stringed, almost guitar-like sounding (seemingly electronic) instrument that keeps lurking in the background, almost teasing us with its obscurity. Any ideas?
“Running a blog is like letting a virtuoso play for 90 minutes are Carnegie Hall, and then seconds after their performance you run to the back Alley and grab the most inebriated homeless person drag them on stage and ask them what they think of the performance they overheard in the Alley. They then take a piss on the stage and say “F-you” to the people who just had a wonderful experience for 90 or 92 minutes.” - Jason Calcanis explains why he has stopped blogging.

The Economist’s mistaking of an ice stalagmite to an icicle is laughable, but “its insensitivity and condescension towards the Amarnath Pilgrimage…” (to quote The Indian National Interest) are not.
To me, editing is the purest artform in cinema. It’s the only vocation that’s truly related to cinema. Cinematography originates in photography and painting. Screenplay writing originates from plays, stories and literature. Acting has its roots in folk and theatre. Direction is also derivative. Film editing is the only original art form. It’s the only vocation born for and out of cinema. So I’d rather let it be done by someone who knows her job.
India is a hotbed for some amazing ads. This one is also uplifting and heart-warming.
There is an expiry date on blaming your parents for steering you in the wrong direction; the moment you are old enough to take the wheel, responsibility lies with you.
